MS Office 2000 Server Extension

The Microsoft Office Server Extensions feature allows you to use publishing, collaboration, and document management capabilities on a Web server from within Office 2000, Windows Explorer, and your Web browser. The Office Server Extensions start page is the way to gain access to Office Server Extensions from within your browser. From the start page, you can find, view, and manage folders on a Web server, collaborate on documents, manage subscriptions to documents on a Web server, and get Help for Web server features and other product information about Office.

Installation

Make sure that [Internet Information Services] and [Indexing Service] are installed

Run [SETUPSE.EXE] from Office 2000 Professional Disk1

Troubleshooting

If your computer is installed SQL Server 2000 already, you cannot install Office 2000 Extension directly. Because It tries to install MSDE (Microsoft Database Engine. SQL Server 7 compatible).

Note: Two MSDE Products are different. Be careful!

Microsoft Database Engine	SQL Server 7 compatible
Microsoft Desktop Engine	SQL Server 2000 compatible

From SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition or MSDE (Microsoft Desktop Engine.

Backup all database on SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition and uninstall SQL Server
Install MS Office 2000 Server Extention
Backup ServerName_Collab database
Uninstall Microsoft Database Engine. Because I couldn't upgrade from Microsoft Database Engine to SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition. (You may able to install??)
Install SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition
Restore ServerName_Collab database

From SQL Server 2000 Enterprise

Backup all database on SQL Server 2000 Enterprise and uninstall SQL Server
Install MS Office 2000 Server Extention
Upgrade Microsoft Database Engine to SQL Server 2000 Enterprise. (This combination could upgrade somehow!)
Restore ServerName_Collab database
