  1. Right click your Server Group and choose All Tasks - Norton AntiVirus - Client Realtime Protection Options

  2. Set up options as displayed in the following image. Click each padlock icon so it is in the locked position. Padlocked options will appear grayed out on client computers and cannot be changed. It is recommended that users are not permitted to modify any realtime protection options.


  3. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are configuring a student computer laboratory, you may wish to set the option for 2. If actions files: to Leave alone (log only). The reason is that student's may be working on their assignment during out-of-normal-work-hours (eg. weekend). If the copy of their assignment is quarantined from their disk, they may not be able to continue with their work. In these situations, it is better to allow the student to continue working on their infected documents. The computer and network will not be infected. And in the majority of cases, NAV will successfully achieve Action 1 - Clean virus from file.

  4. Set the same action options for Macro Virus and Non-Macro Virus.
  5. Click Advanced, and set the following options.

  6. Click Heuristics, set the following options and click OK.

  7. Click Floppies, set the following options and click OK.

  8. Click Monitor, set the following options and click OK.

  9. Click OK to return to the Client Realtime Protection Options main window.
  10. Click Reset All to send these changes immediately to all clients in the current Server Group.
  11. Right click your Server Group and choose All Tasks - Norton AntiVirus - Client Realtime Protection Options
  12. Click Reset All to send these changes immediately to all clients in the current Server Group.
  13. Note, the Reset All button only applies for changes in the current displayed tab. If you make changes in the File System tab and then change to the Microsoft Exchange tab and click Reset All, only changes in the Microsoft Exchange tab are broadcast to clients.
