  1. Right click your Server Group and choose All Tasks - Norton AntiVirus - Client Administrator Only Options

  2. Tick Show Norton AntiVirus icon on desktop. This is a useful indication for users that antivirus software is installed and operating. For example, the icon shape changes if the NAV realtime protection service is disabled or NAV fails to load properly.

  3. Tick Display message when definitions are outdated.
  4. Set the warning time to 20 days. Definition files are typically updated more frequently than 20 days. A warning message on a client computer will alert the user that definition files are not updating properly on that computer.
  5. Click the Security tab.

  6. Tick Lock the ability of users to unload Norton AntiVirus services.
  7. To prevent users from uninstalling the software from their computer, tick Ask for a password to allow uninstall of Norton AntiVirus client.
  8. Uninstallation will require a password. You should change the password from the current default password.
  9. You might want to enforce a policy which does not allow users to scan a network drive. For example, a user mapping to a full 2GB hard disk and scanning all of its contents will use considerable bandwidth. Network drives should be scanned by an administrator on the server which hosts the network drive. If this is not possible (eg. a SAMBA share on a UNIX server), arrange to scan that network drive from a server which is preferably on the same hub. If both servers are connected to switched hub ports, traffic on neighbouring networks is significantly reduce. Additionally arrange scheduled scans at night and be aware not to conflict with network backups which may also occur during these hours.
  10. To enforce this policy, tick Ask for a password to scan a mapped network drive, and set a new password.
  11. Click OK
